Paintball Gun - Which One Should You Buy?

A paintball gun is to the game of paintball what a bat is to cricket. Of course you can play cricket without a bat, just use a stick but then you kill the game. Similarly, if one does not have a good paintball gun one might as well play tag.

A paintball gun or marker was born with the forest department and farmers wanting to mark the trees and the cattle respectably. The first paintball gun came into existence in 1970 and was called the Nel–Spot 007. The Nelson Paint Company produced it. But there was a problem with these guns; they had a very high velocity which was proving dangerous to the players.

The Splatmaster was made and produced only for the game of paintball. It was made completely of plastic and one had to manually load it before every shot. Soon the paintball gun evolved and had features like removable barrel as well as pump action cocking. Soon things got more advanced and the game saw guns like the first semi automatic SMG60 and then later the 68. The "Shocker" as it was aptly called, was the first electro- pneumatic paintball gun and was sold by Smart Parts in 1995. These were needless to say more precise in their shots.

Over the years these paintball guns have not only gotten more precise in their shooting, as well as fast in their reloading, but are also much lighter and smaller than their predecessors.

Regular players usually like to own their own gun rather than rent one each time. Apart from being a sheer waste of money the grip and accuracy of ones own gun is higher since one gets used to it. There is a large range of paintball guns in the market to choose from. Both lower as well as higher end guns can be useful if a few tips are kept in mind while purchasing them. One should never buy before doing a good and through research.

It is important to see the action of the gun. There are various actions like pump action, semi automatic, hybrid and many more. Depending on how fast you want your gun to shoot as well as reload, you can make a pick from the above-mentioned actions. The performance as well the designs of the gun are also of importance when making a choice.

A very important factor in a paintball gun is the way in which it is powered. The cheaper guns are mostly CO2 powered while the higher end has Nitrogen in them. The bottle CO2 guns are preferred over the 12-gram cartridges. Like anything else maintenance is the key to a long life of the Paint gun too. The O-rings, the bending boats and the insides are the things to most watch out for. Steer clear of flashy colors since they attract a lot of unnecessary attention during the game. A small paint pistol can be just an effective as the Paint gun while being less cumbersome. Paintball guns can be upgraded by adding a new hoppers or barrels.

The game of paintball is half won if you have a good paintball gun.
